Meredith 2009 line-up announced

The line-up for this year's Meredith Festival was officially announced this morning:

  • Akron/Family
  • Animal Collective
  • Bag Raiders
  • City Of Ballarat Municipal Brass Band
  • Jarvis Cocker
  • Combo La Revelacion
  • Crocodiles
  • Eddy Current Suppression Ring
  • Sia
  • Heavy Trash
  • Paul Kelly
  • Kid Sam
  • Kitty Daisy & Lewis
  • The Middle East
  • Pharoahe Monch
  • Royal Crown Revue
  • Henrik Schwarz
  • Thee O Sees
  • Tumbleweed
  • Why?
  • Patrick Wolf
  • Yacht Club DJs

Unfortunately, several of the more exciting names on the rumoured list were omitted - including Band Of Horses, Afrika Bambaataa, The Vaselines and Gang Gang Dance.

However, there are a few nice surprises and I think appearances from Pharoahe Monch, Crocodiles and Akron/Family are definitely worth getting excited about. Also pretty pumped for the City Of Ballarat Municipal Brass Band sideshows.

It should also be pointed out that this is only the first line-up announcement. So (obvs) there is plenty of room to move and still small glimmers of hope that the exciting names that have been left off will be added in later on.

Visit the festival's official website for the full run down on the ballot ticket system. Those lucky enough to be picked in the first round should know all about it by now.

"Also pretty pumped for the City Of Ballarat Municipal Brass Band sideshows."

There was a rumour that they'd be doing sideshows with Silent Wedge, but I e-mailed Aunty this morning and she confirmed that they were both festival exclusives. Drat.

PUMPED... I believe I missed the brass band last year... not sure how... funky flamingos prehaps had something to do with it.... and maybe Mr Smirnoff... hello!

I'm pretty happy with the line up so far... I think / hope there'll still be a few more nice additions for the second announcement....

Peace, love and mud.
